Tandem
This one-hour course is unsurpassed if you are interested in becoming an accomplished skydiver in the least amount of time or if you want to "feel it all" on one jump. Harnessed to your instructor, a tandem jump starts with a freefall from at least 10,000 feet, but usually more than 13,000 feet. At 5,000 feet you deploy the chute and begin a peaceful five minute descent. The instructor can take you for a ride and solely control the jump or give hands-on freefall and canopy flight instruction. After landing, you'll receive a first jump certificate and logbook, and can pass to the next learning level. You can complete the tandem program in two jumps and then begin the AFP program. Tandems are $159 to members.

Advanced Freefall
Program (AFP)

Privately tutored, you and an instructor will exit together from at least 10,000 feet for 14 levels of instruction. Each of these jumps are regarded as "learning levels", which feature a performance objective for you to accomplish. The jumps practice basic freefall skills and develop "freefall awareness", and the instructors wear video helmets on each AFP jump. At approximately 4,000 feet, you'll deploy your chute and begin a four-minute descent. The ground instructor will monitor the descent via radio. As you pass to the next learning level, your instructor will outline the lesson plan and explain the new objectives. Upon completing this course, you will be USPA license-qualified and able to jump for only $17 (without gear rental)!. For members, AFP jumps 1-3 are $140 each, 4-10 are $120 each, 11-14 are $110 each, and #15 is $40.

Graduation Jump
(No Fee!)
Class 1 Parachutist

After graduating from the student program and getting your basic skydiver's license, you can jump at any drop zone for about $13-18 per skydive (in the U.S., and if you don't have your own gear yet many DZs including Skydive Chicago have rental gear available at an extra charge). So go out and do whatever you like best! There are several disciplines you might enjoy, including traditional (belly-down) relative work, sitflying, head-down flying, skysurfing, canopy relative work, accuracy, style....
Now's the time to go play in the sky, and enjoy feeling as free as it gets.

...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your face turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return...
